Care Instructions

Taking care of your new cutting or serving board is very important. Here are tips on getting the most life out of your boards.

  • Wash your board gently with soap and warm water with a non-scuff sponge.
  • Dry immediately with a towel and let air dry standing upright with good air flow.
  • When your board shows signs of wear, it might be time to re-condition it. Apply "Walrus Oil" Cutting Board Oil once every 6 months.

There are also certain things that can cause your board to warp and wear faster, which you should make sure to try and avoid.

  • DO NOT use heavy abrasives or harsh chemical cleaners, as it will strip off the finish and expose the raw wood grains.
  • DO NOT put in the dishwasher. The heat and water will strip the finish and permeate the board with excess moisture, causing it to warp.
  • DO NOT soak the board in water overnight, as this will lead to the wood absorbing excess water and cause warping.
  • DO NOT let the board dry flat. The top of the board will dry first, leaving the underside saturated with moisture. This will cause uneven drying, which can lead to the board warping over time.

If you follow these steps, you should have a board that lasts you a very long time!
